
The mayor of General Pueyrredón, Guillermo Montenegro, expressed his concern over the increasing insecurity in Mar del Plata and pointed out that 80% of the criminals in the area are not from the city. He emphasized the need to restore order on the streets, stating that they belong to the citizens. Montenegro also referenced the tragic murder of Cristian Velázquez, a 50-year-old kiosk owner, during a robbery, highlighting the urgency for reforms in the judicial system.
Regarding the provincial governor, Axel Kicillof, Montenegro questioned his management in security matters and supported the position of the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, in favor of toughening criminal laws. While mentioning Juan Grabois, he accused the social leader of defending criminals who extort residents of Mar del Plata.
Montenegro expressed his disagreement with Kicillof regarding security in the province, arguing that criminals have more rights than the rest of the population. Concerning the accusations against him by Juan Grabois, the mayor dismissed them and considered them a recognition of his management.
